Mesothelioma Settlement:the Truth
People suffering from mesothelioma have three common treatments; surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy. (See: mesothelioma settlement)
These are typically used in conjunction with chemotherapy or radiation after a surgical procedure. If the mesothelioma is detected before it has spread to other areas of the body, surgery may be an option.
The purpose of chemotherapy is to identify and eliminate cancer cells, such as those affect by mesothelioma. The problem with chemotherapy is that it kills healthy cells along with cancer cells, as do most cancer treatments; it is this that causes the side effects of chemotherapy treatment. Although chemotherapy drugs had little effect in the past, new drugs have brought new hope.
One method that is helpful in stopping the advance of mesothelioma is Radiation Therapy. This is frequently used after an operation, but sometimes it is used just for ordinary pain relief. Radiation generally results in short-term relief, but not long-term improvement.
