Side Effects Of Steroids
As of June 19, 2007 Barry Bonds is 22 home runs away from breaking Hank Aarons record. That makes me sad and mad at the same time. To think that a baseball legends record will be broken by a steroid using baseball played makes me mad. I get even madder to think the Major League Baseball considers it a legitimate feat of breaking the record. I am not bashing Barry Bonds; there is no denying he is a great baseball player. However, I will always think of his greatness being tainted by steroids.
What makes me sad is how Barry Bonds breaking this record will affect the young people that are playing the game. Will they see steroid use as unavoidable to become great at the sport of baseball? How do they view steroid use? At this point, there seems to be no adverse effects of Bonds using steroids. He continues to play the sports he loves and is not being penalized by Major League Baseball for his conduct. .One has to wonder how long he will be able to prolong the inevitable side effects of steroid use.
This brings me to my major point. And I have done what everyone else has done when it comes to Bonds, the records and the steroid use. That is talk about Bonds and not bring up all the horrible things that happen when you take steroids. There is no denying that steroids can temporarily make you stronger but here are some very common side effects of steroids:
Dizziness
Balding
Joint Pain
Aggression
Depression
Paranoia
Vomiting
High Blood Pressure
Stunting ones growth
This is just a partial list and I think it scary enough. We need to tell young people that these are very real things that could happen to them if they take steroids.
